Rubber Lining is the skilled application and bonding of rubber sheet to specially prepared surfaces. The rubber can be applied as either unvulcanised material which is then vulcanised and hot bonded – usually in a steam autoclave; or as pre vulcanised material which is cold bonded using two part adhesives. The fully bonded lining provides a durable and resilient protective rubber coating that will withstand very aggressive process conditions and applications.
It is necessary to have a good understanding of the various service conditions, rubber linings suitable for these conditions, and proper procedures for application and curing in order to obtain a long and trouble-free service life.
SERVICE CONDITIONSTemperatures can range from 140°F (60°C) to over 200°F (93°C). The concentrations can be from 28% to over 70%. The solution may be under pressure, static storage or under full vacuum. Under these conditions, the acid is highly corrosive and requires the best efforts of all parties to yield a rubber lining that will give the desired service life.
TYPE OF RUBBERThe resistance of various different types of Tank rubber lining and solvents vary greatly.
Soft Natural Rubber : This Rubber has an excellent resistance to Hydrochloric and Sulfuric Solutions.
Ebonite Rubber : This Rubber has higher degree of chemical resistance & Hardness and is widely use in the Electro-Plating and metal finishing industry.
Synthetic Rubbers : Synthetic Rubbers such as Butyl, Hypalon, Neoprene and Nitrile have good resistance to hydrocarbons and mineral oil and can be used in some circumstances between 80 to 90 degree C. We will be pleased to recommend a suitable rubber lining service.
